Ronald G. Silikovitz, Ph.D. is a NJ licensed psychologist in private practice. He earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Child Psychology at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1969. Prior to that, he had earned his B.A. in Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania in 1962 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He has been in the private practice of psychology since 1980.
Dr. Silikovitz’ offices are located in West Orange and Elizabeth, New Jersey. He had been under contract with the Union County Family Court. Since 1980, he has had a contract with the Department of Permanency and Protection (formerly the Division of Youth and Family Services). He has staff privileges at Morristown Memorial Hospital and the Bonnie Brae Educational Center. He conducts disability evaluations for the Division of Disability Determination Services. He also evaluates children and adults seeking services by the Division of Developmental Disabilities. He is contracted with the Office of the Public Defender.
Dr. Silikovitz is a member and active participant in many professional organizations. These include the American Psychological Association, the New Jersey Psychological Association (NJPA), the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts (NJ-AFCC), and the Essex-Union County Association of Psychologists (EUCAP; formerly the Society of Psychologists in Private Practice).
He is the founder and is a Past President of the New Jersey chapter of AFCC. He received that chapter’s Phil Sobel award in 2013.
In NJPA, he is an active member and current co-chair of the Forensic Committee. He is an elected member and Secretary of the Ethics Resource and Education Committee., He has served as Secretary and Treasurer for NJPA. He has served as Secretary and as Chair for the NJPA Committee on Legislative Action. He has served as chair of the Committee on Children, Youth and Families and co-chair of the Task Forces on Child Custody and Visitation Assessment, Enhancing the Delivery of Psychological Services to the Division of Youth and Family Services, and Concerned Professionals for the Accurate Assessment of Child Sexual Abuse.
In EUCAP, he has served as President, Treasurer, Representative to the New Jersey Psychological Association Executive Board, as founder of the Psychologists Educating the Public Program, and as consultant for the development of four public education videotapes: Coping with the Recession, Balancing Priorities in the 90's, Money Matters and Your Mate, and Why Bright Children Fail.
In the community, Dr. Silikovitz is an active member, and on the Executive Board, of the West Orange Chamber of Commerce. He was a charter member of the West Orange Human Relations Commission (1993-2003). He is Past President of the B'nai B'rith Northern New Jersey Council. At Congregation Oheb Shalom, he is a past Vice President and past Secretary. He has been an elected member of the Board of Trustees and a member of the Ushering and Job Relief committees. He served for many years as a member of the Budget Committee. As a member of the Penn Club of Northern New Jersey, he interviews high school seniors seeking admission to the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Silikovitz’ specialty areas include custody and parenting time evaluation, forensic assessment, parenting coordination, reunification therapy, expert witness testimony, and individual, couples, and family therapy.
