Psychotherapy is a treatment method designed to help an individual deal with the tensions and stressors of life in order to attain self-growth and fulfillment. One may be seen individually or
with other family members. Therapy assists people to define problems and understand their emotional feelings. Primary goals are to modify current persistent negative feelings, attitudes
and behaviors derived from the person's earlier experiences, and to facilitate the development of new attitudes and behaviors.
In a society as dynamic as ours, people can easily feel alone, lost or forgotten. Psychotherapy helps individuals to take control and to have a better understanding of themselves, leading
towards a life filled with rewards and personal, social, and emotional growth.
Dr. Silikovitz offers therapy for individuals, couples and families, focusing on issues related to self-esteem, identity, emotional functioning, stress, relationships, separation and divorce,

Stress, which may be acute or chronic, frequently exacerbates physical and emotional problems. If unattended, stress weakens one's coping ability, and one often experiences a
combination of emotional, physical, and/or behavioral symptoms.
We specialize in helping individuals relieve stress. Clients learn active and simple methods to relax, cope, and relieve their own symptoms. A relaxed individual who has peace of mind is

Child and Teen Testing
For Whom: Children, Adolescents
Issues: Behavioral or Learning Problems at Home or at School Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Neglect, Physical or Sexual Abuse Bonding, Adoption, Custody
Often, the first step in delevoping a workable comprehensive treatment plan is to do a psychological evaluation. We utilize the evaluation process to develop a "vivid snapshot" of a
person's current intellectual and emotional status and his or her treatment needs. Having conducted more than 7,500 evaluations, we are specialists in interviewing and administering
individualized batteries of intellectual, projective and achievement tests. Psychological assessments yield comprehensive clinical knowledge about the individual. Therapy can then
begin immediately to deal with essential underlying feelings. The result is that fewer therapy sessions are necessary to ameliorate our clients' difficulties and to enhance their well-being.
We consult with Child Study Teams to help provide special services as well as modified mainstream educational programs. Advocacy services are provided when indicated.
